Some personnel of the Ashanti Regional Secretariat of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and the Ghana Police Service have recovered two bodies from an abandoned mining pit at Bobiam in the Bosome-Freho District of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased have been identified as 14-year old Samuel Owusu, who is in class six at Bobiam D/A, and 5-year-old Emmanuel Lattery, who are not related to each other or the same family but rather the same twon.
The two, according to eyewitness officials, entered the pit on Thursday evening to swim, when it caved in.
According to the eyewitness, Mr. Davis Addai, Ashanti-Bekwai Municipal police and other bodies, have been deposited the bodies at the Bekwai Government Hospital.
According to Davis Addai, he advised our parents and the headmaster as well as the headmistress to educate the Childrens from getting themselves out of galamsey pit for swimming because our children’s are losing their lives day and day out when they went swimming in an abandoned galamsey pit.
