*CSSPS ANNOUNCES 2021 BECE SCHOOL PLACEMENT CUT-OFF POINT*

The Management of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System CSSPS Announces 2021 BECE School Placement Cut-Off Point.

The Management of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) as it prepares to release the 2021 school postings of candidates who sat for last year’s BECE has announced the school placement cut-off point.

Speaking to EducationWeb on Friday, a staff of the CSSPS said there is no direct cut-off point for the school placement however his outfit this year will not place BECE students who had an aggregate 9 in English Language or Mathematics.

“We don’t have a direct cut-off point for the computer school placement, the only cut-off point we have is when a student gets aggregate 9 in English Language or Mathematics he or she will not qualify for placement,” he disclosed.

The CSSPS official explained that the school placement is done based on six subjects namely; English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies and two additional best-performed subjects of a candidate.

“So the Computerized School Selection and Placement System policy guideline is that if you get grade 9 in English Language or Mathematics which are required to qualify you for placement, you will not get school,” he told the Web.

Asked what measures have been put in place by his outfit to ensure a smooth school placement checking this year, the CSSPS associate said the school placement portal has been upgraded to contain a huge amount of visitors traffic.

“The 2021 BECE graduates this year will use only https://cssps.gov.gh to check their secondary school placement. We can assure the students and public that there will be no downtime during the school checking process,” he noted.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ministry of Education, Kwasi Kwarteng, Monday on national television said the 2021 Senior High School placement process has reached a final stage and will be out in the shortest possible time.

In an interview monitored by EducationWeb, the spokesman said the School Selection and Placement System, Ghana Education Service, Ghana TVET Service and Free SHS Secretariat are jointly working on the students’ school postings.

The MoE spokesperson told Accra-based United Television (UTV) that BECE students, parents and members of the general public are to expect the release of the provisional school placement results from now to March 21, 2022.

Asked how many 2021 students are expected to get placement this year to benefit from the Free SHS, the Deputy Spokesman for MoE, Yaw Opoku Mensah said his outfit is looking to post all students who sat for the examination.

Prof Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service last week said all qualified students will be placed to enable them to have their secondary school education for free under the Free SHS programme.
