PAYMENT OF RENT FOR OCCUPYING SCHOOL/ GOVERNMENT BUNGALOWS

It was coming and now it’s here, Teachers are now to pay for their stay in Government bungalows, starting from the western region there was a Release out on 11th March 2022 that senior high school teachers who stays in Teachers bungalows are to pay 10% of their salary. As it has started in some part of our regions then surely it will get to the rest and our basic school teachers, now my question is, is this a good move by GES.

In line with the effort to streamline the anomalies with regards to the payment of Rent for Occupying School/Government bungalow, I wish to draw your attention to Ministry of Finance Circular No. 133385/05/06NTR CAGD of 15th May, 2006 requires that occupants of government bungalows are expected to pay 10% of their basic salary as rent.

I therefore write to inform you that with effect from 1″ March 2022, all Teachers/Staff occupying School/Government bungalow are to pay 10% of their basic salary. You are also to ensure all arrears owed are collected to avoid audit issues.
