SOME FEW OUTCOMES OF THE NEW CURRICULUM WORKSHOP

✓ON EXAMINATIONS
1. The following classes won’t write end of term exams. Class 1 ,3 ,5, J.H.S 1 & 3. This implies that only class 2,4,6 & JHS 2 will be writing a standardized test.

2. Basic School starts from KG-SHS. Therefore, B.E.C.E will no longer be but will be replaced by
WAECE when the learner gets to S.H.S.

INCLUSIONS & EXCLUSIONS
✓ French starts from P4 – JHS 3 next academic year.

✓ Introduction of Arabic. The reason given was that, Arabic is globally spoken language than any other language.
NB: No specific date was set to begin the Arabic.

✓ Compulsory 1hour extra Curricular activities (Clubs, Talks, Sensitization, Guidance & Counseling, NGO’s activities etc..)

✓ Some topics (Sub-Strands) have been eliminated at all levels. Eg. In class 6, they’ve removed The Life Cycle of Okro among others.

✓ Lesson notes are not going to be lengthy

NB: Some of the above mentioned features are used in the new lesson preparations but have different name.
Eg. In the old lessons notes, we had TOPIC but now it’s called SUB-STRANDS. TLA are now called EXAMPLARS, etc.
