*As teachers we have been complaining about the poor system we find ourselves in.
Everything seems not to be working in GES.
They have turned the teacher into a dustbin where they dump every useless policy they bring and as coward and timid as we are,we take it in and keep quiet,complaining in the back.
Teachers are like a chicken whose mother has been killed to make one’s soup delicious thereby making the life of the chicken very miserable. We have a mother union but the chicken soup is more useful than these mother unions.

We have unions who claim to have the interest of their members at heart yet went and sat on a table for the govt to insult a whole teaching fraternity in the name of given 4% and 7% for the 2021 and 2022 respectively as salary increment. Somebody might argue that it’s not for only teachers,yes it’s not for only teachers but I am a teacher and I am talking for a teacher.
We are all witnessing how prices of goods and services are skyrocketing in the last few months and we are yet to enter 2022. Only God knows what we will be facing in 2022 in terms of economic hardship.
The main reason for this write up is about this professional development allowance. Now it looks like every district or municipal is trying to organize fee paying workshop and asking teachers to pay and join because they will use it to develop their points for license renewal.
Indeed, the money is for the teacher to develop professionally but it shouldn’t be an avenue to exploit teachers. Apart from monthly salary that a teacher takes,
there is no any other avenue a teacher gets something to lessen his or her burden with in this job yet those above always want to use foul means to take even the little the teacher have.
I suggest that if teachers will be paying every now and then for workshops attended,

then there is no need to worry teachers to be writing this promotional exams again. When u accumulate the needed points ,then u are promoted automatically.
The grilling of teachers before they are promoted is over stretched.
Jobs are suppose to be enjoyable doing but it’s like in teaching service here in Ghana,almost every teacher is frustrated about this job meanwhile they say education is the backbone of every country.
Looking at what is happening in the teaching service here,I think that saying is wrong. Those who made that statement should come again.
Many teachers if not most have already received their teacher’s license card which I think it’s a good thing.
As a teacher,there should be something that makes your work valuable and respected which I think this license card serve that purpose but the question I ask is that,is it going to serve the interest of the teacher or as usual,
the card is going to be used to exploit teachers?many would not understand this question today but when the time comes,people will understand.
There are some teachers who have to even pay their officers in their various districts before their document are sent to controller.
One can just imagine what will be happening if teachers start to renew their license.
I stand to be corrected but I believe this renewal of license is tie to one’s salary. If your license is not renewed when it expires, u risk loosing your salary. Interesting times ahead.*
