Teacher Unions Instructs NTC And The Tax Taken From Teachers Professional Allowance To Be Return To Teachers Per Agreement Reached.
CESSATION OF DEDUCTION OF NTC TEACHER LICENCE FEE: GH 100.00
The Teacher Unions-GNAT, NAGRAT, CCT-GH wish to bring to your notice, the continued deduction of NTC Teacher Licence fee of GHe 100.00 against Teachers, a fee which was deducted in 2020 at source by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, for and on behalf of the NTC.

We find the continued deduction arbitrary, distasteful, and an unfair labour practice, and therefore call for its immediate cessation, and reimbursement of all teachers who have suffered it.
We call on you to act with dispatch to ensure that the said deduction do not appear on the November, 2021 payslip to avert any instability on the education front.
We hope our call will be treated with all the seriousness it deserves.

TAXATION OF CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ALLOWANCE FOR TEACHERS
Your letter Re: Continuous Professional Development Allowance to the Chief Executive Officer. Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, dated 19th November, 2020 refers:
We wish to draw your attention to paragraph 2 in which you stated:
It was agreed that this (Continuous Professional Development allowance) was not subject to tax. Incidentally, there are indications that the money … to be paid at the end of November, 2020… has been taxed, contrary to the agreement reached (with the Teacher Unions), (and) likely to lead to agitations… if not corrected, and state that,

The Continuous Professional Allowance for Teachers 2021, has again been taxed, and therefore call on you to take immediate steps to correct the anomaly, and have the amounts taxed reimbursed the teachers, to avert agitation by the Teacher Unions.
We call on you to take steps to ensure that it does not reoccur.
