Ghana Education Service Has Changed The Academic Calendar From Semesters System Back To Trimesters System. Here Is The New Calendar.

Many teachers expressed their concerns when they heard that Ghana Education Service has changed the academic calendar from the trimester to only 2 semester which runs from January to Jun and July to December.

Ghana Education Service has listen to their employees and the Teacher Unions and has changed the calendar back to Trimester.

RE: SCHOOL CALENDAR

It may be recalled that the Ministerial Committee on School Calendar issued a calendar for the current academic year indicating that Kindergarten to Junior High School was to be based on the Semester system.

Following the directives to commence the Semester system, the Ministry has received representation from a section of the public and key educational stakeholders to re-instate the Trimester system.

After further consultation on the issue, the Honourable Minister for Education has directed that the calendar for Kindergarten to Junior High School for the current academic year should revert to the Trimester system.

Consequently, the dates for the various school terms for Kindergarten to Junior High School are as follows:

1st TERM

18th January 15th April to 14th April, 2022 (12 Weeks)

15th April, 2022 (Vacation) to 9th May, 2022 (Vacation)

2nd TERM

10th May – 18th August 2022 (14 Weeks)

19th August to 12th September, 2022 (Vacation)

3rd TERM

13th September – 22nd December, 2022 (14 Weeks)
