Lives of the people of Kwaman in the Afigya Kwabere North District are in danger as the rate of robbery has appreciated.

The residents have said that arm robbers have taken communities such as Kwamang, Ahinkro, Boamang and other villages within Afigya Kwabere North District by storm which has cause a great fear and absolute panic in them.

They believe that the unavailability of police post in the area is as a result of the many robbery attacks in Kwaman and its surroundings.
Nana Kofi Agyemang (Kwaman-Sanaahene) confirmed claims of the residents claim as true since he has personally suffered in the hands of them (robbers).

According to him the thieves have attacked traders in the area on countless number of times.”They have attacked my people especially traders on so many times, they normally position themselves at Aboabugya Nkwanta, thus between Kwaman and Ahinkro at dawn, between the hours of 2 AM and 3 AM, and this has caused fear and panic in all of us” he told Todayinformer.com’s reporter Joe Marfo.

Nana has declared that ” I have reported these robbery cases to the Ashanti Regional Police headquarters during the era of DCOP Ken Yeboah, the Regional Police Commander but little has been done about the situation as of now”.

He hinted that the District Chief Executive Officer (DCE) of Afigya Kwabere North, Hon Karikari Acheamfuor on the other hand “has despised” his appeal as people keep on bringing complaints about robbery attacks.

However, he has stated again that the residents have lost hope in the DCE and the authorities in the Ashanti Regional Police headquarters. Therefore His Excellency Nana Addo in his capacity should endow Kwamang with one police post to assist eradicate the invasion of criminals in the Kwaman community.

Subsequently, Nana Sanaahene has declared his readiness to give one of his mansions to the police if government is set to dispatch them (police) to his community.

“I have a lot of buildings here, so I am ever ready to accommodate any police officer who would be posted to Kwaman being it today or tomorrow, all my people need now is adequate security”.

On the other hand, the Asembly Member for Kwaman Hon. Osei Kwabena Busumbru Ababio has also indicated, there is the need for government to aid his electoral area with the provision of proper school buildings, a community center and as well improve upon sanition in the community.

Hon. Osei Kwabena Busumbru Ababio suggest that the DCE incompetence has left the Afigya Kwabere North District underdeveloped.
