RE: REACTION OF TEACHER UNIONS IN EDUCATION (GNAT, NAGRAT, TEWU AND CCT-GH) TO THE UNILATERAL CHANGE FROM TRIMESTER ACADEMIC CALENDER TO A SEMESTER ACADEMIC CALENDER
Management of Ghana Education Service (GES) has taken note of the concerns raised in the press release by the Unions in Education about the new Academic Calendar and contact hours for schools.
Indeed, the Ministerial Committee on Schools Calendar engaged representatives of the Unions and School Heads. However, we will continue to engage the Unions and other stakeholders if they have noted additional concerns since the release of the calendar.
Subsequently, Management has invited the Unions to a meeting on Thursday, 20m January, 2022 to discuss the additional issues raised.
Meanwhile, Management wishes to welcome back to school all basic school teachers, learners, and particularly, ‘My First Day at School’ learners.
We wish to assure parents, students, teachers and the general public that GES will work closely with the Unions and other stakeholders to ensure that the 2022 Academic Calendar is not disrupted.
Management wishes to remind parents, learners and school authorities to continue to observe the COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
