RE: TRAINING WORKSHOP ON SENSITISATION OF CURRENT EDUCATION POLICIES AND LEGAL FRAMEWORK
GNAT Sends An Important Message To All Teachers Concerning The Payment Of Money For Workshops
According to GNAT their attention has been drawn to a letter emanating from the Regional Director of Education, Volta Region with the above Caption, to District Directors of Education in the various Districts for the above workshop to be organized.
Unfortunately, this letter has become the basis for which Heads of Schools are forcibly collecting as much as Seventy Ghana Cedis (GH-70.00) from the teachers.
We wish to bring to the attention of our teachers that, paying money for such workshops without prior negotiations is unacceptable. Attendance at workshops cannot also be compulsory.
We wish to remind all to refer to the Collective Agreement that we have with our employer.
We expect the Heads of schools to do the right thing so as not to disturb the already volatile industrial atmosphere.
The Union would not shield any school or Head, who wants to compel teachers to pay unapproved fees for workshops.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
Samuel Mawuena Cody Regional Secretary-Volta Region.
