CATEGORY (A) OR ONE POINT TCPD ACTIVITIES THAT EVERY TEACHER SHOULD BE FAMILIAR WITH.

NTC Category (A) Or One Point TCPD Activities That Every Teacher Should Know, This Is The First Part For Teachers License Renewal.

Every teacher is expected to build some amount of points over three years tcpd cycle to be able to renew their License. Points expected of teachers are based on teachers rank.

Points are accumulated by engaging in routine professional activities both in and outside working environment. These activities have been grouped into categories by NTC from A to G with varying levels of points allocated. Category A activities for instance have one point while category G activities carry 20 points.

Here are 8 suggested activities for category A which carry one point.

1. Preparation of Scheme of work (Scheme of Learning)

2. Being and active member of a registered teacher union or any relevant subject-based
Association.

3. Participating in a special event relevant to teacher’s role.

4. Participating in school- or cluster-based workshop eg. PLC (1 point for one workshop).

5. Using the lessons learnt from reading of journals and books to improve teaching practice or assessment which is verified by school head or any supervisor.

6. Participating in individual conference with parents on students’ performance.

7. Participating in Orientation by HT/HoD/CS/DEO, Using lessons learnt from conferences and seminars to improve learning.

8. Using analysis of learning outcomes to improve learner’s attainment. This should be verifiable.

It is very important to to get verifiable evidences for every activity. Certificate/Citation/Memo/log/etc
